After School Clubs

All other clubs have finished for the term.

Rags2Riches4School Collection - Wednesday 10th Dec @9am

Our school will be hosting a fundraising event in association with rags2Riches4Schools. This an easy and efficient way to earn additional cash and all donations are recycled.
From baby wear to teenage hand-me-downs to grandad’s shoes, all items of clothing and accessories are welcome. Bags, hats, belts, ties, scarves and gloves all count! Cuddly toys, jewellery, bedding, and towels.  All we ask is for them to be clean and in condition and for the shoes to be tied together. Unfortunately pillows and duvets are not accepted at this time.
Everyone will be given a free collection bag , but any bag will do!
Please bring your bags to school on TUESDAY 9TH DECEMBER from 8am to 4pm. OR UP TO 9AM ON WEDNESDAY! [WE WILL BE THEIR SECOND CALL OF THE DAY!!]
Bags will be sent home this week.
We truly appreciate your support in helping us raise these additional funds.

Save the Children - Christmas Jumper Day

As a school we ask that children and staff wear "A Christmas Jumper" or "T-shirt" etc. on THURSDAY 11th DECEMBER as it is also our Christmas Dinner Day!
All money raised will go to Save the Children Fund .You can send a donation in that day as much or as little as you wish.

Children In Need

Well done everyone!
We raised a fantastic £1183.98 !
A big thank you to everyone who gave today to support this wonderful cause.
Give Mr Roberts his due he wore his 'onesie' all day and raised over£80 from the staff!

Friends of Sikusi Meeting

The next meeting will be after school on Monday 3rd November at 3.30 to 4.15pm.
During half term please can you write at letter to your Ugandan pen friend telling them about yourself , your friends and interests.

Industrial Action - Tuesday 14th October

Dear Parent,

I have been advised that several trade unions have called for strike action on Tuesday 14^th October. These unions represent a variety of staff in the school and as a result the school will be affected. In order to minimize disruption, the Chair of Governors and I have decided to close the school to all children in the Nursery, Reception and Year 1 and 2 classes on that day. Children in the Junior classes will be expected to attend school. However, we will not be able to provide school dinners and all children will need to bring a packed lunch. Breakfast club will also be unavailable on this day. Clearly, school will be closed to all pupils in the two special classes.

I appreciate that this will inconvenience many parents but I have no other alternative if I am to maintain the pupil:-dult ratios that are required in the younger classes.

To summarize: -

• Classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be open
• All other classes and the Nursery will be closed
• All children who attend school should bring a packed lunch.
• Breakfast club will be closed.

 Nursery & Reception - 9.15am start

Y1-Y6 - 1.00pm start

 

Dear Parent,

All pupils to wear suitable kit and footwear to compete in (house colours are encouraged). This can be worn to school.

No strappy tops to be worn [because of risk of sunburn].

Please can your child bring:

·         A tracksuit if desired to keep warm between events but not to race in.

·         A sun hat.

·         Sun cream/block.  This should be put on at home or by the child in school.

·         A drink in a non-breakable bottle – no fizzy drinks please.

 Once the athletics has started no parent is allowed to cross the track.

Obviously parents want to take photographs of their children but please do not cross the track or go in front of the roped barriers at the finish as this hinders the efficiency of the judges.

Should it be cancelled due to inclement weather to avoid phoning school it will sent text message and be put on the Blogg.   http://maesybrynpri.blogspot.com

Pudsey came to visit Maesybryn Primary last week to remind us all about Children in Need Day on Friday 15th November

Proposals to reduce the Council Budget

Dear Parent,

Proposals to reduce the council budget

This matter was considered by Cabinet at their meeting on 21^st October 2013 and it was formally agreed that a consultation process be initiated on all five proposals. The consultation process will now commence, on Monday 4^th Nov 2013 and will be open for 4 weeks, closing at midnight on Monday 2^nd Dec 2013.

RCT have instructed us to circulate this above information. Please find poster attached.

In terms of feedback, there is the opportunity for this to be done  preferably

on-line, at www.rctcbc.gov.uk/servicechanges1  or by e-mail to servicechanges1@rctednet.gov.uk

There are also leaflets with feedback forms available in school but we have a very limited supply.

Macmillan coffee morning/ afternoon!

A resounding success! Diolch yn fawr to all of you who supported our coffee morning/ afternoon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support charity. Thank you all involved- those who donated cakes - and that fantastic raffle prize of a giant cupcake made by Mrs Cathy Hill.....Thank you for the children who entertained you , and those who served you - and most of all thank YOU for coming along - there is another event in aid of Macmillan next week - watch this space to find out how much we raised for this very worthy charity!

Helicopter Visit

A big thank you to Sophie Grenfell's father for bringing the police helicopter to school today. The children (and the staff) were really excited to see it land on the school field. All of the Nursery and Reception children got to sit in it and everyone else had a photograph by it and a good look inside. As soon as we have some photographs from the ground and the air!!!! we shall post them on the blog. I hope all of the children will remember this for a long time.

Sports Day Wed 19th June

Dear parents,

As the weather stands at the moment Sports day will be held tomorrow! if there is a change then a text will be sent out tomorrow morning by 8.30am.

Nursery and Reception races to be held in the moring. Y1 to Y6 in the afternoon.

Nursery, reception and infants are to wear their sports colours to school [they do not have to

change into their uniform when they have finished]

Juniors to wear their uniform and change at lunchtime.

Please don't forget to make sure your child brings a hat [and suncream!] but also an extra drink.

SPORTS DAY CANCELLED

SPORTS DAY IS CANCELLED FOR THURSDAY 13TH JUNE as we feel the field is too wet and slippery.
New date will be hopefully Wednesday 19th June - weather permitting!!!!!!

Christening at Llantrisant Church
