Back to School

I hope that you all had a lovely holiday and are all ready for the start of school next week - I know Mums and Dads are looking forward to it !!. There has been a lot of work at school over the holidays and the new classroom is nearly ready, as are the new toilets in Mr. Dowd's new classroom. Mr. Bob Gay and his family have transformed the overgrown woodland at the front of the school and even the front gates have been painted. The teachers and support staff are all going to a training centre on Thursday but Mrs. Rees and Mrs. Franklin will be in school to help any parents and we will all be there on Friday getting ready for when the children start on Monday 6th September. Enjoy the last few days of the holiday and the sunshine and I will see you all next week.

  3. Just witnessed a very near accident outside school this morning where a 4 year old was almost knocked over by a car. Why can;t we do something about staggering start and finishing times to alleviate some of this pick up and drop off stress. This bright idea of all pupils coming out together is causing mayhem in the afternoons and it will be too late after the first accident.

  4. Healthy Snacks - what a great idea and sounds good that the school is trying for this award... will the children however get some sort of recognition for taking part in the scheme? My children have started bringing healthy snacks in as part of their lunch box but i am getting meet with complaints of "well so & so had sweets and crisps - wqhy cant i?" If there was just some simple reward system - a star or a league table of snacks - or a competition for the most inventive healhty snack it would help motivate kids (& their parents) to take part

  5. Healthy Snacks? what a great idea and good to see the school taking the initiative - just one pause for thought - could children be rewarded or recognized in some small way for taking part. I dont mean financially but maybe score points towards their house or a chart showing what n when.... my kids want to enjoy taking part but its hard when their friends are waving sweets in their face...a points or "reward2 system would help - hows about competition for most inventive / imaginative snack.... may seem petty but your not the one packing the lunch box..lol

  6. I feel it's a great shame that the teachers are not using their blog alot more frequently. It's a fantastic opportunity to share with parents and pupils alike, things that have and are going on whilst they are in class, and I know that the children all love to read the blogs, and maybe sometimes they will even get a mention!
